Tonight is the last night to catch what Variety called, “as irresistibly fizzy as a sachet of Pop Rocks.” Load up on Gummy Bears and check out “Electrick Children,” a movie that fits somewhere between “Holy Rollers” and “Devil’s Playground” (that 2002 doc about Amish Rumspringa). Rachel is a free-spirited 15-year-old living in a fundamentalist Mormon community who finds a forbidden cassette tape with rock music on it—and three months later discovers she’s pregnant. Believing she’s had an immaculate conception, she heads to Vegas to try and find the guy on the tape.

Get into a spring break state of mind with Michel Gondry’s new charmer “The We and The I,” opening tonight at the IFC Center. Returning to NYC for inspiration eight years after directing comedian Dave Chappelle’s “Block Party,” this time Gondry heads uptown. Set in the Bronx on the last day of school, the film provides “an invigoratingly unconventional glimpse of kids taking tentative steps toward adulthood.” Complete with a great soundtrack, the film stars the real-life students who helped develop the story, and take Gondry back into the super-weird world of high school.

BEFORE CLIVE 

Some of the biggest news coming out of Sundance last month was Sony Pictures Classics picking up “Before Midnight.”The third film in the series from Richard Linklater starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy as a pair of star-crossed lovers who meet in Vienna in “Before Sunrise”in 1995 and then reconnect in Paris nine years later in “Before Sunset,”now has the couple heading to Greece (think: “This Is 40”with a passport). However, in the meanwhile, you can catch Ethan Hawke directing “Clive,”a play based on Bertolt Brecht’s play “Baal,”for The New Group.

SHE’S GOT LEGS

Starlet Felicity Jones—and her impressive legs—smolder in a racy short directed by Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston. Based on the recently launched Donna Karan Hosiery Evolution Collection, the six-minute short, “Haven’t We Met Before,” features Huston’s “Smash” costar Jack Davenport and Jones as a couple who finds a way to keep the spark alive. Premiering with a VIP screening over the weekend attended by Andre Leon Talley and other fashion insiders, the film is now on YouTube. Check it out before Valentine’s Day to get ideas for a special date with your beau!

Facebook got its movie and now YouTube is getting its own big-screen moment. Playing tonight at the Angelika, check out “Please Subscribe,” a documentary about the site that launched viral videos into the mainstream. Where would we be without “S*** Girls Say,” “Gangnam Style,” and that German dude diving into a frozen pool? YouTube is the third most visited site on the Internet, with more than 800 million people logging on to watch some three billion hours of video. Playing for one day only, this doc looks at this phenomenon and the creators behind it. After today though, maybe you can find it on YouTube.

GO TO THE LIBRARY

Even if you haven’t read John Irving, there’s a good chance you’ve seen one of his movies. His blockbuster page-turners read like films, which is probably why five of his 13 published novels have been adapted for the big screen—one even picked up an Oscar. Since his debut with “Setting Free the Bears,” Irving has become a titan of new American lit, receiving countless awards and literary honors. Now he’s in town to kick off the spring 2013 season of LIVE at the NYPL, and making his only New York appearance for the paperback release of “In One Person,” which fittingly features a librarian.

SUBZERO VILLAGE

Could the release of German director Werner Herzog’s documentary about living in a remote Siberian village be more appropriately timed? Opening tonight at the IFC Center, “Happy People: A Year in the Taiga” explores a culture virtually untouched by modern society deep in Siberia’s extreme landscape. While a week of arctic temps might leave many New Yorkers feeling incredibly grumpy, these locals live without telephones, running water, or medical aid. This snowy flick provides some thought-provoking insight—and, well, at least it’s indoors.
