Sparkling water is a great way to jazz up your eight-glasses-a-day regimen, but does it count as “real water.” Glamour.com decided to find out and the good news is chilled bubbly water is indeed just that: H2O with carbonation. However, the same rule doesn’t apply to sugary sodas, juices, or coffee, explains dietician and writer Erin Palinski, “Fluids rich in sugar—such as juice or caffeine—are less hydating due to water losses in digestion, as well as the diuretic properties of caffeine, but sparkling water contains no calories or sugar and is caffeine free, making it a great way to hydrate.”
