Only two more days of the Tribeca Film Festival and this year’s closing weekend includes: movie stars directing rock stars (see: Vampire Weekend playing Roseland Ballroom on Sunday), indie directors interviewing Hollywood powerhouses (check out: “Black Swan” filmmaker Darren Aronofsky chatting with Clint Eastwood on Saturday), and restored classics making debuts (think: the 30th anniversary of Martin Scorsese’s “The King of Comedy,” starring Robert De Niro, for closing night). Sunday also reveals the fest’s top winners. Make it a weekend at the movies.

TWILIGHT TIME AT TFF

In the twilight day of the Tribeca Film Festival (three more days to go), vampires are making a comeback. Tonight “Interview With a Vampire”screenwriter Neil Jordan, who picked up an Oscar for “The Crying Game,”attempts to draw fresh blood from the genre with his new fantasy thriller “Byzantium,”screening at 9:30 p.m. with encore showings tomorrow and Saturday. Meanwhile, the New York-raised and Columbia University-educated band Vampire Weekend plays a closing-night concert on Sunday directed by actor Steve Buscemi at the Roseland Ballroom.

“BEFORE” SERIES

Like a “56 Up” for hopeless romantics, director Richard Linklater’s “Before” franchise has become a lovey-dovey genre all its own. Starting with the 1995 meet-cute flick “Before Sunrise,” in which Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke begin their star-crossed journey to 2004’s “Before Sunset,” the trilogy now picks up their love story nine years later in “Before Midnight.” Set in the Greek isles, the couple once again finds themselves at a relationship crossroads looking at how life’s up and downs have kept them together. Has Linklater saved the best for last? Find out at the Tribeca Film Festival’s screening tonight.

KING OF COMEDY

There are still five more days of great movies to go until the TFF’s closing night film, “The King of Comedy,” starring Mr. Tribeca Film Festival himself, Robert De Niro, however tonight offers a chance to see a documentary about a real-life king of comedy: Richard Pryor. Director Marina Zenovich chronicles the legendary funnyman’s life from his youth in Illinois to his meteoric rise to fame, along with appearances from friends, family, and industry insiders, including Mel Brooks, Robin Williams, and Dave Chappelle. Catch this revealing and entertaining film tonight and tomorrow, as well as on Saturday April 27.

It can quickly turn into a scene recalling Alfred Hitchcock’s suspenseful masterpiece “The Birds.” Celebrate the 50^th anniversary of this classic flick with a free outdoor screening tonight through the Tribeca Drive-In series starting at 8:15 p.m. Starring Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, and Suzanne Pleshette, this meet-cute story turns weird—make that really weird—when a couple witnesses an unsettling bird attack in a small California town. Show up early for pre-movie trivia.

GET HIM TO TRIBECA

The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off tonight with a rock’n’roll opening night featuring Tom Berninger’s “Mistaken for Strangers.” Instead of a blockbuster premier, it seems fitting that this year’s fest returns to its roots with an indie rock doc about Brooklyn-based band The National. After all, Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro started the fest back in 2002 as a grassroots effort to revitalize Tribeca, which had turned into a ghost town after Sept. 11. Now 12 years later, it’s gotten bigger—and expanded to theaters above Canal—but tonight’s selection only proves, it’s going to keep on rockin’ in the free world.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
It’s a double feature for power-jam bands tonight at the Tribeca Film
Festival (see aforementioned: “Don’t Stop Believin’” rock doc). Relive
the glory days of Queen with a career-spanning documentary on the
group going back to the late-’60s all the way up to today. It promises
to be a full Bohemian Rhapsody, according to the festival’s site,
“packed full of rare archival footage of the band hashing out their
signature overdub sound in the recording studio, mind-blowing live
performances, and Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon’s candid
reflections on their careers and the last days of Freddie Mercury,
‘Queen: Days Of Our Lives’ is any fan’s dream.”

DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’
Part “Slumdog Millionaire,” part “American Idol,” Arnel Pineda’s story
is the stuff dreams of overnight success are made of (including a
cautionary fairytale of being careful what you wished for). In 2007,
Arnel rocketed to fame after friends posted videos of the aspiring
Filipino singer covering classic rock songs on YouTube. One of these
uploads caught the attention of Journey guitarist Neal Schon, who soon
flew Arnel from the Philippines to San Fran for an audition—and that’s
where the story begins. Playing tonight at the Tribeca Film Fest,
“Don’t Stop Believin’” looks at what happens when a street kid with no
formal music training is suddenly cast into the role of frontman on a
world tour. Fortunately, it isn’t part “Get Him to the Greek.”

DRINK AND DISCUSS

New York’s homegrown film festival gets back to its vox populi roots
tonight with a special Q&A series hosted by Heineken, open to anyone
with RSVP (first come, first served), not just industry insiders. The
Tribeca Film Festival started out as a celebration of movies that
anyone could enjoy and tonight offers a chance for everyday folk to
hobnob with the cast and crew from three fest highlights. Heineken’s
Drink & Discuss series kicks off at Central Bar after tonight’s
screening of John Forté’s doc “The Russian Winter,” followed by
post-movie discussions of “Side by Side” and “First Winter” tomorrow
