While Beyonce might be in her element on a stadium stage, one could say the same about her sister Solange in an art museum. With her downtown aesthetic and experimental sensibility, Solange has stepped it up with “True,” her latest release with collaborator Dev Hynes. Tonight she’s kicking off the Super Bowl of art fairs with a performance at The Armory Party 2013. Hosted by the MoMA, the opening preview celebration benefits the museum and its sister venue MoMA PS1. (With after-party tickets starting at just $150, it puts being a downtown patron of the arts within reach.)

SOLANGE SHINES 

Beyonce’s multitalented little sister—singer, songwriter, actress, model, dancer, and DJ—Solange headlines the Bowery Ballroom tonight for the second time in two weeks. While StyleList.com takes a look back at her big sis’ ultra-glamorous looks in 2012, Solange has stepped out with a more downtown look—rocking big Diana Ross-style curls and plenty of indie cred. On stage, Solange’s distinctive nouveau Motown packs some edge and an electronic downbeat. Says Billboard.com, “Solange captivates with ‘True’ songs,” playing up the name of her 2012 seven-track EP “True” produced by Dev Hynes. Stay tuned…
