TAILOR-MADE BURGERS
You’ve got the West Coast surfer girl waves, what’s next? (see: Perfectly Imperfect Waves). “The West Coast’s takeover of New York City’s burger scene,” reports Eater.com. What will bring as many as 10 locations of Fatburger and a handful of Umami Burgers to the area started yesterday with the opening of the Cali burger shop in Murray Hill. The L.A.-based chain did have a satellite here near Gramercy in the ’90s, but now it’s back with new ownership. “It’s got burgers grilled to order with a whole host of toppings stacked in a very specific order (for example, tomato always on the bottom).” As they say, delicious is in the details.

TURN UP THE HEAT
BBQ season is officially on: Hot on the heels of Danny Meyer’s 11th annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party this past weekend in Madison Square Park, the crew behind Finger On The Pulse throws its second Brooklyn BBQ Blowout featuring the grill skills of former “Top Chef” contender Dale Talde. While Team Talde focuses on delicious fare, the Mayor of Bushwick, a.k.a. MC Todd, will be manning the decks for an evening of good food, good tunes, and good friends (not mention a chance to win Bon Appetit’s “The Grill Book”). Grab a Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale and say cheers to Brooklyn and BBQs!

ICE CREAM IS HOT
Has anyone noticed New York’s growing obsession with ice cream? Between a critical mass of 16Handles and fro-yo spinoffs, brand-new ice cream parlors and gelato shops, and of course, the legions of midtown Mr. Softee trucks and their downtown, Willy Wonka-like counterpart the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, it was only a matter of time before someone got serious about frozen dessert. Leave it to a wd-50 alum at that: OddFellows Ice Cream Co. now open in Williamsburg offers up decidedly non-vanilla flavors, like chorizo-caramel, cornbread, and burnt marshmallow—well, and smoked vanilla, too.
MONDAY TO-DOS

GOVERNORS BALL
Every year since it started, New York’s little-music-festival-that-could has gotten bigger and better. Indeed, this year’s three-day Governors Ball is fit for rock’n’roll royalty, quite literally, kicking off with the Kings of Leon tonight, followed by Guns N’ Roses tomorrow, and Kanye West on Sunday. Not to mention, Pretty Lights, Cut Copy, Animal Collective, and The XX, among others. Go for the lineups and get in line for ultra-tasty food vendors, like Crif Dogs, Porchetta, and Rickshaw Dumpling, as well as some surprising art happenings involving graffiti and balloon chairs.

TASTE SUMMER
You don’t have to trek up to Maine anymore for a decent lobster roll thanks to a legion of seafood shacks that have opened around the city channeling summer four seasons a year. Tonight the Tasting Table hosts the ultimate showdown of this New England classic for its Lobster Roll Rumble. Sample purist versions, like Cousins Fresh Maine Lobster from Pasadena, California, along with Brooklyn contenders and straight-from-ME goodness, all vying for buttery roll supremacy. You might not be in Maine anymore, but it sure tastes like it.

CRONUT MANIA
You might be a little late to the cronut craze, but as with all things this delicious, better late than never. Since its debut in mid-May, the cronut, a delightful Willy Wonka-like pastry hybrid that’s part doughnut, part croissant, has been selling out at Dominique Ansel’s Spring Street bakery faster than he can make them—and people start lining up early for a taste of this small-batch goodness. On Saturday, Ansel unveiled his latest flavor of the month lemon maple to replace the rose-glazed variety that launched cronut mania. Yep, there’s one reason to wake up early on a Monday!

A NEW NOOK
Looking for a hot new dinner-date spot? Check out the recently opened Musket Room in Nolita, showcasing culinary ingenuity by way of New Zealand, a country known for its adventure sports and now daring epicurean feats: “Your chef here hails from NZ. And on his way here, he also did some fine work at Public and Saxon+Parole, where it appears he ruminated on the art of the flawless date spot,” reports UrbanDaddy.com. “You’ve got candlelit nooks with blue leather banquettes, garden views, walls of wine, and…delicate plates of whole quail.”

KATZ’S TURNS 125
It might have been the scene of the best relationship conversation ever—where else but Katz’s Deli? Tonight this New York institution is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a special Shabbat dinner to benefit the Henry Street Settlement. The evening’s menu will feature cherished classics, like hand-carved pastrami and corned beef, alongside tribute dishes prepared some of the city’s hottest chefs, including Joey Campanaro of Little Owl, Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese, Bill Telepan, and pastry chef Sarabeth Levine. Call it a delicious mitzvah.
