DESIGN-FORWARD PERFUME

HEART HAITI

NY hearted Haiti last week at the “Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts” event: This collab between Urban Zen, the CFDA, and eBay brought out “almost 150 CFDA members, including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Nicole Miller to personalize papier mâché hearts from Haiti locals, which were on display and will be auctioned on eBay from April 22 to May 2,” reported WWD.com. Said Donna Karan, “I was blown away by the creativity. Each one is so unique. The only way I can call it is a couture collection.” The hearts—including Donna Karan, DKNY, and Urban Zen ones—will benefit Haitian artisans and relief efforts.

Museum gala season is in full swing right now—the pendulum swing even, as was the case late last week. “A crush of charity circuit types flocked to the Frick last Thursday for the museum’s annual Young Fellows Ball. The theme of this year’s Donna Karan-sponsored revelry was Dance of Time, coinciding with the museum’s current exhibition, ‘Precision and Splendor: Clocks and Watches at the Frick Collection,’” reported WWD.com. Fortunately, you have plenty of time to catch this roundup of historic timepieces, spanning from the Renaissance to the early 19th century, which is on view until February 2014.

Perhaps it all started at the 2012 Oscars, but this year host Kelly Rowland nearly stole the show on the red carpet in a stunning black-and-white Donna Karan Atelier dress with a thigh-high slit (this just weeks after her half-time Super Bowl appearance lit up the twitterverse). Starlet Felicity Jones—and her impressive legs—smolder in a racy short directed by Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston. Based on the recently launched Donna Karan Hosiery Evolution Collection, the six-minute short, “Haven’t We Met Before,” features Huston’s “Smash” costar Jack Davenport and Jones as a couple who finds a way to keep the spark alive. Premiering with a VIP screening over the weekend attended by Andre Leon Talley and other fashion insiders, the film is now on YouTube. GIRL POWER AT THE GLOBES

It was all about girl power at the Globes on Sunday between Dunham & Co. picking up several awards for their much-buzzed-about HBO series, actress Jessica Chastain’s win and unabashed endorsement of director Kathryn Bigelow on the red carpet, and Jodie Foster’s Cecil B. DeMille award (not to mention, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler stealing the show). Likewise, the girls made power moves on the red carpet: Take newly single, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift who turned up in “a dark plum taffeta Donna Karan Atelier gown with a sexy low back and dramatic train,” reported US Magazine.
