DESIGN-FORWARD PERFUME

An elegant bottle of perfume adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the top of your dresser or a subtle design element to a mundane medicine cabinet, a quality possessed by Donna Karan’s stylishly packaged Woman fragrance. Last week, the Fragrance Foundation unveiled its top five finalists for the Oscars of perfume—including Woman in the best packaging category. Stay tuned for the June 12 award ceremony hosted by actor-comedian Dana Carvey at Fashion Week’s home, Lincoln Center, and celebrate the crème de la crème of fragrances, as well as hall of fame honoree Allure founding EIC Linda Wells.

CUT AND PASTE

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V: Get ready for a creativity throwdown on the Lower East Side tonight at the Angel Orensanz Foundation. Cut&Paste has scoured the globe’s top design capitals from Berlin and Helsinki to Mexico City and Sao Paulo to Seoul and Tokyo for talented creators. Watch as they face off in three rounds of live, unleashed creativity projected on screens in 2D, 3D, and motion/animation. Audience members get to participate improv-style by submitting concepts for the designers to work into their final compositions.

MAKING MIDTOWN
