A MOVING TRIBUTE
3-D isn’t just for blockbusters anymore, even the indies are trying
out this flashy medium usually reserved for action pics and kiddie
movies. Legendary director-producer-writer Wim Wenders best known for
art house flicks like “Wings of Desire” and “Buena Vista Social Club”
makes his dazzling foray into the third dimension with “Pina.”
Screening at the IFC Center, the film “began as a collaboration with
legendary choreographer Pina Bausch [as] an attempt to re-imagine her
dance on the big screen,” explains the theater’s website. However,
when Bausch died suddenly in 2009, Wenders transitioned the project
into a moving tribute to her groundbreaking work.
