SOPHIE & THE CITY
BRING YOUR PRECOCIOUS CHILD TO WORK DAY
Well, the @CondeElevator was certainly a short-lived protagonist of life at 4 Times Square (last tweet dated August 2011). However, now the building has another fictionalized character sharing stories from the inside. Told from a child’s point of view, like an Eloise at The Plaza-type picaresque, “The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: All in a Day’s Work” is the story of a little girl “who sneaks into a publishing company to visit her father and gets whisked away to different worlds (or magazines, such as Vogue, Brides, Vanity Fair and Condé Nast Traveler),” according to WWD.com. Along the way, she befriends characters like ALT and even finds a fashion fairy godmother decked out in Swarovski crystal wings, of course. Penned by Kelly Florio Kasouf, daughter of the late Steve Florio, the former president and chief executive officer of Condé Nast, who passed in 2007, the book was inspired by her late father’s never published musings about his time in the iconic halls. Sounds like “a bring your child to work” day we can all envy!
